Bliss Break Bliss Break #1 written by Ali The Bliss Break is a new feature on Fix Me a Little Lunch. Read below to find out how it came to be. Here of late, it just seems we need more happy in the world. I was inspired recently by Kristen Doyle’s website, Dine and Dish. I’d subscribed to Dine and Dish quite some time ago. Honestly, though, I have a habit of subscribing to blogs, getting email updates and just doing a blanket delete. Microsoft’s most recent update put an end to that – I can’t figure out how to delete all the emails on one screen without wiping out everything in my inbox. And touchscreen technology means I’m challenged to select a bunch of emails without opening one accidentally. So in the process of going through each email individually, I reconnected with Dine and Dish. Each week, I now look forward to and read Kristen’s Happiness Report. I decided to start writing down my own happy for each week. I keep a notebook next to my computer at work and occasionally jot something down. Many years ago, I was at a conference at which one of the community college presidents in my state talked about the value of bliss breaks. I’ve loved that phrase and tried to incorporate bliss breaks into my own day. I’ll confess that I have to work harder at this. Stopping or slowing down doesn’t come naturally to me, even when I recognize that it’s healthy and really good for nurturing creativity. Having a notebook handy just to remind myself why I’m happy has helped. So starting this week, I’m sharing my bliss break with you. I thought it might be good timing since Thanksgiving is just around the corner. And – I want to encourage you to share your happy here as well, so each week will also be a Linky Party for other bloggers to share their blog posts that make them happy. I’ll feature the one that brightened up my bliss break each week. Posts about food, books, art, travel, fashion – all fair game. Honestly, any happy post is welcome. Here are the things making me happy this week. I came across the STEM From Dance page last week. I’m working on a project at work around the arts and loved seeing this particular approach to interdisciplinary learning. I’ve been subscribing to the Poem a Day email from the Academy of American Poets for ages. Recently, though, I started actually reading the poem each day. I love reading beautiful lines like these from Prageeta Sharma’s “My Poem for My Stepdaughter” We hope willfully that we are close to the expiration of seemingly endless agitation. Or we are in for years and years of its wild growth. Next up, I recently subscribed to Rocksbox. Since I live in an small town, there’s not a lot of shopping for women’s clothes or accessories, so I’m all about the subscription boxes. Loving these Kate Spade earrings. Head over to my Instagram feed to see how these look IRL. There might be a bit of an ocean theme here. I’m so lucky every day to see this view on my drive home. I can’t help but be happy about hydration. I was in the market for a new water bottle here of late, and fell in love with this one from Manna Hydration. Plus, since it’s the holiday season, my local coffee kiosk has new cups reminding me to be thankful. So that’s it this week my friends. It’s your turn – link up your happy blog posts below or leave a comment about what made you happy this week!
